Because of climate change, the Rideau Canal isn't always available for skating. It gets too warm, or rainy, or well, many things can get in the way of a good skate.
So, enter some Canadian inventors who discovered a way to make reliable, refrigerated ice in warmer times. The city decided to take advantage of that and build a smaller public rink right outside of City Hall. It's called the Rink of Dreams
Here we have the shiny ice surface after the crowds took a break from skating to let the Zamboni resurface the ice on the rink.
